Understanding Anti-Wrinkle Treatments: Units, Brands, and Injections

When it comes to anti-wrinkle treatments, a ‘unit’ refers to a measured amount of the product used. The number of units required for each area of injection varies, and while our experience allows us to estimate the quantity needed, it’s important to note that it’s not an exact science. We recommend a follow-up appointment two weeks after treatment to assess its effectiveness and make any necessary adjustments.

Anti-Wrinkle Brands at Cityskin:

In Australia, there are three main anti-wrinkle brands available. Due to TGA regulations, we are unable to mention the brand names directly. However, on our website, we refer to them as ‘The American brand’, ‘The South Korean brand’ and ‘The European brand.’ It’s worth noting that when we mention ‘units’ on the Cityskin website, we are specifically referring to the American brand.

Determining Unit Requirements:

Please keep in mind that the unit estimates provided below pertain to the American brand. If you opt for the European brand (our recommended choice), we typically use three times the number of European units. Use the following guide as a reference to estimate the number of units you may require. Please note that these estimates primarily apply to women, as men often need 1.5 times the units to achieve similar results.

Understanding Injections:

It’s essential to clarify that the number of units does not correspond directly to the number of injections. For instance, when treating the frown area, we commonly use 20 ‘units.’ However, these units are distributed across seven injection points, with a higher concentration in the centre of the frown where the muscle is strongest.
