Bell’s palsy is a medical condition that causes weakness of the facial muscles on one side of the face. Bell’s palsy can be caused by trauma to the head, viral infection, parotid gland infection but it can also occur spontaneously with no identifiable cause.

Muscle weakness affects the facial nerve and can cause a droop in the faces of some patients. Often the muscle weakness improves on its’ own (approx. 75% of patients improve without treatment) but some patients are left with an ongoing weakness in the facial muscles.

How to treat facial asymmetry with wrinkle management treatment:

We can improve facial asymmetry by relaxing the muscles on the affected side of the face. Wrinkle management treatment can provide a lift to the affected side and can lift the brow and mouth corner. We can also treat the unaffected side of the face to relax and subtly drop this side in line with the affected side. It is often a good idea to use volume enhancement treatment on the affected side of the face to provide lift and volume which can further improve symmetry.
