When can I have wrinkle management / volume enhancement treatment after laser or a chemical peel?
When patients have volume enhancement treatments and wrinkle management treatments, we want to minimise the risk of these treatments are much as possible.
There is a varying length of downtime between each laser. Fraxel laser on a high setting (for facial rejuvenation) had a longer recovery time than Medline on a low setting (for removing sunspots). It can take 2 weeks to fully recover after a CO2 laser treatment.
The same can be said for a chemical peel – a Jessner’s peel had a downtime of a few days whereas a light salicylic peel had a shorter recovery period.
When to have volume enhancement treatment after a chemical peel or laser
We think the sensible way to approach volume enhancement treatment after a chemical peel or laser is wait until your skin has fully recovered before treatment. This may mean waiting between 2 and 10 days depending on the laser or peel that you had.
When to have wrinkle management treatment after a chemical peel or laser
This is up to the discretion of the practitioner. Usually, we feel comfortable treating a patient with wrinkle management treatments when the redness / inflammation has settled down following laser or chemical peel. There isn’t great science to back this up but just a personal preference.
