This is a myth! Anti-wrinkle treatments work by blocking the transmission of a chemical called acetylcholine from the end of a nerve to the muscle.

It takes approximately 5 days for the treatment to start working and it lasts, on average, 3 months if the ideal number of units are used. (Click here to read our guide to anti-wrinkle units).
The anti-wrinkle treatment relaxes the muscle and reduces wrinkles. When it wears off the muscle goes back to full movement.

Think of anti-wrinkle treatment as like ironing a shirt – for the 3 months that the treatment works the shirt is nicely flat. After 3 months you start to incrementally wrinkle the shirt, forming creases again. For some time, the shirt won’t be as wrinkled as the first time that it was ironed but eventually the creases will form again.
