How long does dermal filler last?
The duration of dermal fillers varies between individuals and can be affected by things such as your lifestyle, your metabolism, the area injected, and the amount of dermal filler injected. Generally, more mobile areas of the face, such as the lips, will breakdown more quickly in comparison to less mobile areas.
There are various studies into the longevity of dermal fillers some stating these products can last for up to 24 or 36 months however this time frame was achieved through the injection of large volumes or through regular top ups. For increased longevity, we recommend after your initial injection you attended for a review and top up at roughly 6-9 months.
You will most likely need less product the second time around. In some cases, patients would like more treatment prior to this time. That is not a problem if the area has been given time to heal from the previous treatment.
