Can dermal filler move after being injected?
Dermal filler typically does not move after treatment. Immediately after the procedure, our practitioners suggest gently massage the injected areas to ensure proper product distribution and minimise the risk of lumps. It usually takes about two weeks for the filler to settle and integrate into the surrounding tissue. To maintain the desired results and prevent filler migration, we recommend following our aftercare instructions.
To promote optimal outcomes, we advise our patients to avoid vigorous exercise for 24 hours following the treatment. Additionally, it is important to refrain from exposing the treated areas to excessive hot or cold temperatures for two weeks. This includes avoiding facials and laser treatments to the face during this period. We also suggest refraining from long-haul flights for two weeks after the procedure due to changes in cabin pressure.
While it is extremely rare for dermal filler to migrate after injection, we acknowledge that there have been a few isolated cases of filler moving away from the injection site. Following the recommended aftercare instructions diligently significantly reduces the chances of filler migration.
