Can you inject hyaluronic acid dermal filler on top of permanent lip fillers?
Unfortunately, we do not recommend injecting non-permanent fillers over the top of permanent fillers, due to the risk of infection.
Permanent fillers are said to last about 10 years. However, we don’t know if there is still product in there, even after 10 years. Complications, such as biofilm (very resistant microorganisms to antibiotics), can be very difficult to treat, and, therefore, the risk does not outweigh the benefit. If you would like to know alternative treatment options, we suggest making an appointment with a plastic surgeon.
