I’m 41 and had permanent filler in my lips 6 years ago. I feel as though they have returned to their previous size. I really want some temporary dermal fillers in my lips to make them fuller. Is it possible to inject on top of permanent lip fillers?
Unfortunately, we do not recommend injecting non-permanent fillers over the top of permanent fillers, due to the risk of infection.
Permanent fillers are said to last about 10 years. However, we don’t know if there is still product in there, even after 10 years. Complications, such as biofilm (very resistant microorganisms to antibiotics), can be very difficult to treat, and, therefore, the risk does not outweigh the benefit. If you would like to know alternative treatment options, I would suggest to make an appointment with a plastic surgeon.
